Spotlight: Meet Rebecca Briggs

BriggsRebecca Briggs joined GCI Consultants, LLC in June 2013 and has been flying high on lifts and assisting us in the Miami area ever since. She is originally from Bloomington, Indiana and graduated from the University of Southern Indiana.

Currently, Briggs is working on the Ocean III Condominium in Sunny Isles Beach, FL. Her scope includes working on the design and creation permit documents for the renovations of the terrace deck. She also provides valuable insight regarding waterproofing, structural concrete, and architectural engineering. Briggs also meets face-to-face with clients and manufacturer’s representatives. Down the road, Briggs will conduct engineering inspection services when the project construction starts.

So far, Briggs’ time with GCI has evolved her expertise to include working on roofing, waterproofing, glazing, structural and architectural engineering projects from investigation and analysis, design and specification, to final inspections and punch lists. Her previous experience includes working on a Regional Plan for Sustainable Development for 2 counties in Indiana and 1 county in Kentucky (Vanderburg County, IN; Warrick County, IN; Henderson County, KY).

Briggs is a member of American Society of Civil Engineers, participated in concrete canoe competition ASCE conferences and served as student chapter Treasurer and Secretary. Briggs is also in involved in the Florida Engineer Society, National Society of Professional Engineers and previously was in Society of Women Engineers and was President of the University Chapter for 2 years.
