GCI Consultants conducted a thorough water leakage forensic investigation to address persistent water intrusion issues at a jewelry store situated in the heart of prestigious Worth Avenue, Palm Beach. The storefront sat beneath a second-floor residential unit boasting an outdoor balcony adorned with elegant tile. Despite previous repair attempts, persistent leaks had plagued the property for years, necessitating a comprehensive review. Moreover, the building’s historic origins, dating back to the 1920s, presented unique challenges.

Upon identifying the source of the water leakage, our team recommended remediation solutions and formulated repair protocols. Our approach involved stripping the balcony down to the plywood substrate and removing finishes from specific exterior walls. Implementing advanced techniques, we advised the application of a TREMproof® PUMA waterproofing system to the plywood deck, with meticulous attention to integration with adjoining walls. Finally, we recommended ASTM D5957“Standard Guide for Flood Testing Horizontal Waterproofing Installations” flood testing. Following thorough flood testing conducted by our quality control team, the effectiveness of our approach was validated.
