Senior Consultant/Engineer – Roofing Litigation Expert

Mission/Role:

Consult with clients in the analysis of claims related to GCI’s expertise in exterior building envelopes. The consultant will assist the client with developing litigation strategies for the construction claims, including reviewing project documents and opposing expert reports, conduct and supervise site inspections and testing, and prepare expert reports.  The emphasis will be on hurricane affected structures in Florida and other coastal regions.

Desired Outcomes:

  • Work with management to supervise and expand GCI’s roof claims and litigation support capabilities
  • Supervise inspection teams and serve as expert in assessing and presenting claims – the emphasis initially will be related to hurricane affected buildings in Florida and possibly other coastal regions
  • Provide consulting advice and strategies to clients
  • Perform site investigations and testing as necessary to develop a plan to support the claim strategy
  • Analyze other expert reports and develop strategies to utilize or refute content
  • Supervise preparation of engineer signed expert reports as required to support the claim strategies
  • Assist client with preparing for mediation and/or other legal proceedings
  • Provide competent expert testimony at depositions and/or trial or arbitration proceedings

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a current Florida Professional Engineer designation
  • Resume demonstrating credentials and experience to serve as an expert witness as to in building construction and building envelope components, and specifically, roof systems
  • Good computer skills and open to using GCl’s technology driven support platform
